My Next Adventure

I am running the Rock 'n' Roll Lisbon Marathon on October 5th of this year. I had the most amazing time last year walking the Camino de Santiago from Lourdes, France all the way to Muxia, Spain. So, I decided that since I will already be in Lisbon, it just makes sense to walk from there to Santiago de Compostela along the Camino Portuguese. Portugal is a gorgeous country and thoughts of walking through it are like a beautiful dream.  I have biked from Lisbon to Grenada, Spain, and have also driven from Santiago to Lisbon.  But the Camino takes one along a different path, not just a beautiful but also a spiritual path. I'm already packed with my tiny pack that is waiting for me at home when I get home from my month working here in Deadhorse for the month of September. I plan to travel even lighter than I did on the Camino Frances.  I want to leave everything behind that is not absolutely essential.  I'll probably wear out another pair of running shoes, like I did on the Camino Frances and the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.  But I can always buy another pair when I get to New York City for the New York City Marathon.  I will be flying directly to New York after I complete the Camino Portuguese. I seem to enjoy running two marathons and walking across a country in between the two!
